January Vegan Swap Box

The new year has brought the return of the Vegan Food Swap. We took a break from swapping for the holidays, but now that they're over, it's time to exchange food once again. If you’re unfamiliar with the vegan food swap, it’s exactly what it sounds like – you send someone a box of food and then someone else sends you a box of food! It’s run by Cat from The Verdant Life and it’s a lot of fun!

This month Galen from Oh My Gosh I'm Vegan was my swap box sender. I told Galen that I'm eating mostly gluten-free these days and that I'm pretty easy to please because I like just about anything, including spicy food and especially chocolate. Galen delivered with an awesome box full of raw granola, spicy SeaSnax, mango chips and delcious carmel filled chocolates. I ripped into those chocolates shortly after taking this picture!

Our orginizer Cat herself was my lucky recipient this month. I was headed to Trader Joe's to look for some goodies to send her when I noticed an Indian grocery store on the way, so I decided to do my swap shopping there instead. I bought Cat several different kinds of beans, some spices and a few other interesting looking items. The spending limit for the swap box is $20 and I bought all of this for $19.50! I think I need to start doing some of my regular grocery shopping here.

We're supposed to include a hand written note for our recepient in our boxes, and since I like to make cards, I made Cat a world travel themed card to go with her Indian food.

I'm already looking forward to February's swap!
